Visit to Newyork.....

17th October 2009....Festival of Lights...But we are not there to celebrate the same in India. So we planned to go to New Jersey. We took Amtrak from Boston and reached New Jersey Metro park station at 8.30 pm. My cousin took us to his home and had a brief discussions about the plans. After such a long stay in US, that night we had a wonderful Indian food...

The next day as usual the climate is not willing to co-operate with us. But at some point only drizzling was there. So we planned to move ahead to "Statue of Liberty". We reached the point of destination at some where around 3pm on Saturday. Took more precautions as the travel is through Ferry on Hudson river. Here we go with some snaps taken around that place..

Since we stayed only 36 Hrs we are not able to cover more. But the places we cover in 36hrs are more worthy's to our trip to New York. We took the same Amtrak from Metro Park on Sunday evening and reached our destination by 9.30 pm.

New England Aquarium - Boston

Weekends are obviously to be enjoyed here in Boston. This week end we planned our trip to New England Aquarium and to spend the whole day there. As usual we took a taxi from Milford and reached Aquarium by 9 am. We took the tickets for Aquarium Exhibits, Whale watch and IMAX theater for approximate 65 bucks. As the Whale watch time is on 2pm and IMAX at 6pm, We planned to move to Aquarium first.

At first we are welcomed by a group of members and took a photograph of us. We thought that it for security reasons but later the person over there told that you can collect the photos at the exit. Its a good business.

When we entered in to the Aquarium, the first and foremost thing is the Penguins Aquarium...The time we entered is the time for their break fast....Couple of persons were feeding the penguins which was awesome.......Look below for the pictures....

A person enters in a pad after giving the food to the Penguin.. to ensure that it is repeating again for the same penguin....

Eagerly waiting for their turn for break fast...

Penguins are playing after their break fast....

Then we entered to the fish aquariums....It really amazing to see such a huge fishes inside the aquarium. All the tanks are cleaned well and maintained like a crystal clear. Below are the pictures taken in each aquarium with different fish types......

Then we moved to main part [Center] of the aquarium where we admired by seeing the 6+ feet Sand Tiger Shark...That too 2 numbers.....Nice ones.....

Then we saw one single fish inside a tank. Later we came to know that it is a Eel fish. There was some sound meter kept flashing some light with respect to the voltage generated from the fish. By studying the comments over there, we came to know that a 3 feet Eel fish can generate 300 volts and where as 6 feet can generate 500 volts. The flashing light also the strength level [voltage generated by the fish], when the fish is searching for a prey and when it kills the prey.

Right opposite we saw a cute sea horse fish inside one aquarium....Really a cute one...

Then we came out to have some snacks. After that we entered to "Jelly fish" section. Here we saw different varieties of Jelly fish such as Umbrella jelly fish, Moon jelly Fish etc.... really a nice watch to see such a beautiful wonders...Here we go with few snaps taken in Jelly fish section.

As we reached 1 pm, we planned to move out for Whale watch. As the boarding time was about 1.30 pm we enjoyed some few moments near the Boston Harbor. Below are the few snaps of them...

As we boarded to the ship, our journey starts to Whale watch. They told its as 3.5 hrs journey and also requested us for pre-medication for ship journey in to the sea. Later we realize our mistakes. They took us to center of the sea [I hope after a such a long travel]. We saw 3-4 Whales in the sea. Wow.....I was trying to take the snaps atleast one of the Whale. But finally i captured one in half the way. As the whale comes only twice out and takes 7 minutes inside sea, we saw only a few of them. Below are the pictures taken during our journey to Whale watch...

Boston from Sea view....

There you go...A whale on right side...[ After doing repeated clicks...only that much i got]

A huge ship on the way...Passing us..

While returning back, We felt something is going around in our head which wants to come out of our mouth.....We sacked it in our mind and pretend as if we are great during that journey....It was a unforgettable moment in Boston for us and also for the day.....

Science Museum at Boston

This weekend we planned to go some places in Boston, the nearest city for us here in Milford. After googling some time, we found the right places to see are Boston Science museum and New England Aquarium.

On Friday evening took the maps and logistics details for to and fro. One of my office colleague warned as the weather may not support us to go to Boston since we had a plan to catch the commuter trains from Franklin.

As he warned, the day 3rd october started with rain. We don't want to give up our plans so we decided to move to Boston directly by our taxi.

We started from our hotel at 8.20 am and reached Science museum at 9 am sharply. We took the tickets including Omini theater show and Planetarium show. My colleague doesn't want to stay more than half a day inside the museum but his view changed by seeing the amazing things and information inside the museum. Here we go with full our memorable days inside the museum.

We entered to Natural Mysteries section, where we found the amazing models of the animals. This really made me the feel of the movie "A night at the Museum". The animals looks as it they are real one. We also played an investigation game buy identifying the right sound of the birds. Below are the few pictures taken under the mysteries section.

Rabbits at extreme Winter.....Cool model....

Is this the skeleton of Lizard or Snake...??...Really amazing...!!!

The Scary and admiring one....Skeleton of Dinosaurs ...

As we wandered the whole Natural Mysteries section, we moved on to "Theater of Electricity". Here there was a demo given by one person how the thunder storm occurs and how to escape from Thunder....Interesting with a lot of scientific information. I tried to capture the sparks while they occurring. Out of 10-13 snaps, only in one snap i was able to capture the spark and that is the below one...

Real time satellite information is provided by this globe....

Then we moved to Robotics section. We are able to see a lot of robots with specific duties such as Mars mission robot, Bomb identifier and remover robot and the cutest robo dog. It performs and obey as per our commands....

Then we moved to Butterfly garden section, where all the beautiful butterflies are welcoming inside the park. This place also have a lot of information about the various butterflies and its life cycle...

We planned to go to other place, New England Aquarium but we couldn't. Science museum is such a huge place and we are able to cover only 3/4 of the museum. We also enjoyed the stay by visiting to Omini theater, Antarctica - the show played at 11 am. Amazing theater with quality of sound which feel that you are in Antarctica.

Also, the Planetarium which described about the beyond our galaxy...I felt quite sleepy by seeing the darkness. A lot of information is provided by the science employee about the triangle stars in summer and its view...Quiet interesting...

Then, We moved to 3D- digital cinema sponsored by Bose, my favorite music system...Wow...Amazing movie about sharks inside the sea in 3D...The film ran about 20 mins which we felt inside the ocean....

As the museum closes at 6pm, We started to move out at 5.50 pm. We went to an indian restaurant, Bombay Cafe in Mass Avenue and had our dinner. Later we took the commuter train from Boston to Forge park and returned to our hotel with the help of taxi.

Even though the weather started give a trouble for us in beginning but at the end of the day we enjoyed the wonderful weather here in Massachusetts....

More to come.....Catch with more memorable stay next week....
